The Process
Since using our web interface—the most common way to use our on-demand interpreting services—is the most popular method, we will discuss this example from that perspective.
When you sign into your interpreter management browsing platform, the telephone symbol is located in the top right corner. By clicking it, a second form appears in the bottom right corner of your browser. With this, you may choose between scheduling an interpreting session or selecting an interpreter on demand. You may choose the one you want, the language you want, the area where you require interpretation, and it will take you to the pre-call information form where you must fill it out.
Your name (or ID number) is the only field that has to be filled out on the pre-call form. The first available interpreter is immediately connected by the platform. As we previously mentioned, it can take a few more seconds to connect with some people depending on the language. Urdu would take a little longer than that, however Spanish would be an instant connection.
The interpreter management platform immediately connects to your interpreter in a manner much to the way uber drivers pick up trips. The capability to see who is requesting gives the translators the ability to instantly connect with you. Interpreter Hub is powered by Boostlingo and leverages a global network of language professionals to enable clients to access on-demand and scheduled interpretation services with third-party providers, including independent third-party interpretation service providers such as Absolute Translations.
How do we qualify our interpreters?
Our supplier Boostlingo requires every language service provider who is associated with the Interpreter Hub to staff qualified language professionals.
For example, to be a designated interpreter in the medical interpretation field, in addition to fulfilling minimum qualification requirements, Interpreter Hub interpreters must have three years of medical interpreting experience, 40 hours of interpreter training, and provide evidence of current HIPAA training that is renewed yearly.
- For legal interpreters, three years of experience in legal interpretation and proof of legal terminology training is required.
- For court interpreters, three years of legal interpretation experience and proof of prior experience in a courtroom is required. Regional and national certification or qualification is preferred.
- For American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, proof of national certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) is required.
To maintain these standards, we have quality assurance procedures among the best in the business. We perform audits on all our Interpreter Hub partners and interpreters, and have a team dedicated to investigating every incident reported through our quality assurance form.
